Manchester City striker Erling Haaland revealed his alternative options before leaving Borussia Dortmund during the last summer Mercato.
“Manchester City was the best option for us, and it came first,” Erling Haaland said in comments highlighted by Marca newspaper.
“Bayern Munich was our second choice, while Real Madrid came in third and then Paris Saint-Germain,” he added.
Halland admitted that some English clubs were among his options, most notably Liverpool and Chelsea, in addition to Barcelona from Spain.
In comments reported by TotoMercatoWeb, Haaland explained, “I never made the decision to go to one club or another depending on the coach, but Guardiola’s presence in Manchester City was an added advantage, he is the best coach in the world.”
And he continued, “I made my decision in the second week of last April, Man City gave me the best sports project in the world, this is where I will do the best work possible.”
Haaland did not hide the importance of money in football, saying, “When I was a kid like everyone else, I dreamed of becoming the best player in the world and earning money, and now I do it.”
“I think that money is important to me and everyone, even if it is not the main reason for playing, but it is clear that if they offer me 5,000 kroner (the currency of Norway) for a job, and then 10,000 to do the same thing, I will choose the latter and that makes sense.”
